In 2006 We the temple of the Moon changed the way we present the Goddess Rituals to Women. Our first Dark Moon Women's
Gathering was held in Canberra in October 2006.
We walked a Labyrinth of many common experiences, but the relationships we each built with Goddess was ultimately an intensely personal one, that continues long after the weekend came to an end. We stayed in a small Lodge in Inner Canberra from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. In this time the timetable included, three rituals, a number of creative workshops, introspective meditations, and even some entertainment and a film on Saturday night. Staying together in the Lodge meant that there wasn't much 'private' time, however the respect amongst our group gave every woman the freedom to take moments of solitary introspection, to take time out and go inside herself, while still being in a supportive space.
No doubt, some incredibly profound and moving experiences occurred throughout this weekend. We found a community of Sisters who embraced one another in fears, confrontations and grief, as well as joys, ecstasy and power. We worked with three specific aspects of the Goddess of 10,000 names this weekend. Each of our Goddesses and their phases represent a different aspect of our physical bodies. This was incorporated into the workshops and rites along with traditional stories, practices all with the purpose of reaching deeper understanding... If nothing else, it is safe to say that this weekend helped all of us find sacred bonds with our sisters; those present, and those whom we interact with in the rest of our lives.
